This is a two piece aluminum shaped cake pan that when formed together make a ball.  The two pieces are baked individually and joined together with icing. It’s fairly small in size, around 6 inches in diameter, but when together it makes for a lot of cake.

I like this cake because of its endless possibilities.  You could make a baseball, a bowling ball, a basketball, a globe, the Death Star, just about anything that you want.  Decorating this cake isn’t very easy though.  Getting the icing to look right on the under sides of it is pretty tricky and takes a steady hand and a lazy Susan.  If you wanted a simple, single color sphere it would be easy though.

It’s a Wilton shaped cake pan, so you know that you’re getting quality at a great price.  This cake mold retails for around $15 if bought locally, but goes for under $13 on Amazon.com right now and qualifies for free shipping with orders over $25.
