Aargh Matey! This pirate ship cake pan by Nordic Ware is perfect for the land loving pirate in your life.
I’m not going to fluff anything up to help get a sale. This cake is hard to decorate! There are a lot of little minute details that are on the top of the ship, and the sails will have to be built. I helped a friend decorate this cake, she was in over her head and called me for assistance. Cake molds like this take a very steady hand with the icing bag, and an eye for detail.
When we built the sails we struggled to come up with a good design. You’ll see in the picture on the main page or the Amazon page that they built one mast right in the middle. We used chopsticks for the masts and built sails on the front and back with black canvas.
Now, I certainly don’t want to scare you away from this cake. If you’re up for a challenge, or looking to build your skills, this is the perfect shaped cake pan for you. Just be ready for it!
Nordic Ware makes this cakepan in the USA. They make some of the highest quality cake molds around, and this one is no exception. I’ve seen this one at my local restaurant supply store for around $40, Amazon.com has it for only $30 right now and it comes with free shipping.
