A checkerboard cake is just about the most surprising cake around. Using this shaped cake pan will create a checkerboard of vanilla and chocolate (or whatever flavors you want) inside the cake. No one will know until you cut it open and everyone can see!
This set comes with three nine inch circular cake pans with one divider that creates the symmetrical checkerboard inside. You’ll have to cook each of the cakes separately since there is only one divider, but the effect is well worth it!

A trick that I learned with this is to use the darkest chocolate cake mix you can find. The darker the mix, the better it creates a separation with the white cake. Using a German chocolate or dark chocolate mix is best. You can also use a mix that is richer than you would normally like since the vanilla will balance it out.
If you’ve never baked a checkerboard cake, relax, they’re really easy. If you can successfully bake a regular cake you can bake the checkerboard. I added this picture in so that you can see more closely
what it will look like when it’s finished. A darker chocolate would have produced better results than what they got in the picture.

Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman has a great shaped cake pan that will make any Spidey fan ecstatic when they see it. This cake pan is updated from the one that we had when we were younger and has much more “attitude” than its old-school counterpart.
This is not a very easy cake. It takes me back to being a kid and trying to draw Spiderman. His body and head isn’t very hard, but getting the web lines on his costume is pretty tricky. Luckily, there are grooves in the baked cake for you to follow so you can stay on track.

Wilton SpongeBob Square Pants Shaped Cake Pan
I love this shaped cake pan, and I’m sure you will too! The Spongebob Squarepants character shaped cake pan is perfect for making any kid feel like a million bucks on their birthday! I’ve baked this cake a few times and have to go watch a few episodes of Spongebob right after just to get the giggles out of me!

While this isn’t exactly a shaped cake pan, it does add a ton of flair to a circle or rectangle cake. If your skills aren’t great with decorating shaped cakes, I recommend using a cake topper or something like it to dress the cake up really nice. This cake topper is Tinkerbell, perfect for your little fairy!
This is a dual purpose cake topper. After it’s been used on the cake, it also comes with a clip that works as a backpack clip or a key chain.

Abby Cadabby Cake Pan
Abby Cadabby Cake Pan is a fun way to celebrate your little fairy’s birthday! Cake pan is made of aluminum and measures approximately 10.5 Inch wide x 12 Inch high x 2 Inch deep. Pan takes any 2-layer cake mix.
This cake is fairly easy, so it would be a great pan for someone just getting started with decorating cake molds. This cake is an intermediate level of difficulty. Most cartoon shaped cake pans are pretty easy, but this one has a bit more detail than most. The lines need to be iced well to keep the perspective correct. The overall shape of the cake is a bit awkward, so attention to detail is important.

Wilton Elmo Face Shaped Cake Pan
Really, who wouldn’t love an Elmo shaped cake pan? I would be flattered if you made me one, and I would giggle with every bite I took! In my opinion, this is one cake pan that every baker should have since everyone loves Elmo. It’s also a great cake pan to get the hang of decorating with an icing bag. Most of his face is a solid color, so it’s really easy to work on technique and gain confidence decorating cakes.

Shaped Cake Pans
Shaped cake pans are the perfect beginning to any great party or get together. A cake is always a lot of fun, and that enjoyment is multiplied when it’s fun and festive shaped. There aren’t a lot of things that make a kid any happier on his or her birthday than a cake of their favorite cartoon character or activity (except maybe the toys to match!).

If you’re unsure, use the Betty Crocker temperature (350 degrees) and cook for 30-40 minutes, until a toothpick can be removed cleanly.
